PROJECT WORKER FIXED TERM CONTRACT

DEESIDE SCHOOL COMPLETION PROGRAMME

The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a TESS (Tusla Education
Support Service) funded programme that aims to have a significant
positive impact on levels of young people’s attendance,
participation, and retention in education.

ABOUT DEESIDE SCHOOL COMPLETION PROGRAMME:

This Programme works with children and young people in five primary
and three post-primary schools in Ardee & Dunleer, Co Louth & Nobber,
Co Meath. We aim to encourage young people to reach their full
potential and prevent early school leaving by providing a range of
supports to help them to access and participate in education.

THE POSITION:

The Project Worker will work as part of a team within the Deeside SCP
programme, providing support for students in school, after school and
during holiday time.

THE PERSON WILL HAVE

* Third Level Qualification in one of the following: social
care/science, youth/community work, education/teaching or a related
discipline.
* A full driving licence and use of car.
* Ability to work as part of a team and ability to work on their own
initiative to develop and deliver programmes to meet the needs of our
students.
* Knowledge of Manualised/Evidence based programmes used with young
people in particular Strengthening Families Programme.
* Experience of working with young people within a supportive
environment either in one to one or group settings.
* Experience of working with families and young people at risk.
* High degree of initiative and flexibility.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Reasonable knowledge of technology.

PROJECT WORKER ROLE

_Flexibility is a key requirement for any candidate given the nature
of the work in SCP_
_Under the guidance & supervision of the SCP Co-ordinator, duties will
include;_

* Provide direct support to the targeted young people in various
interventions and activities.
* Identify the needs of the students and develop appropriate
interventions.
* Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of
structured work with targeted children.
* Build trusting relationships with target students and families.
* Assist in the organisation and delivery of in-school, out of
school, after school and holiday time supports for the targeted young
people.
* Liaise with all relevant agencies to ensure maximum benefit for
the targeted students.
* Assist with evaluations, reviews and future planning of programme
elements.
* Comply with Tess Guidelines in relation to report writing/planning
and record keeping.
* Undertake additional tasks from time to time as identified by the
SCP Co-ordinator.

LOCATION: The work outlined will be carried out at the various
schools within the Deeside SCP cluster in Louth and Meath.
HOURS:  * hours per week may require some
flexibility.
TYPE OF CONTRACT: This post is a fixed term contract up to **Apply on

SALARY: The salary will be in-line with the City of Dublin VEC (now
ETB) Youth Services Board Youth Worker salary scale. The starting
point is dependent on skills and experience.
